New Zealand - Day 8 - Omarama

We awoke to a thick blanket of snow to find the Lindas Pass still closed totally thwarting our plans to get further south.  The decision was made to stay another night and just relax and revive for a bit. The car was stuck so we set out on foot for breakfast and to look at the handful of local shops.

At the supermarket we were greeted by the most delightful little cat whose name was Possum.  She had a tiny little head and feet but a fat wee tum tum.  She followed us around the store getting pats and cuddles.

On the way up the road further we came across a paddock with sheep in it and Jess made friends with one that had a bleeding horn.

We stayed inside that afternoon playing Yahtzee and napping.

That evening we drove up the road to the Omarama Hot Tubs.  These delightful cedar tubs are totally private and were set amongst rocks and snow next to a frozen lake.  We got there as it was getting dark and snow had just started falling again.  Magic!  The water in the pools was mountain water headed by a fire lit under the pool.  We sat in there for 2 hours not entirely keen to make the 20 ft dash across snow covered ground to the changing sheds.
